Installing the AORUS Xtreme GeForce 2080 Ti by Myself

My brother's a wizard.

A computer wizard, that is. MY “thing” was always [digital] art. And books. And my brother always took care of my PC building/upgrading (I really mean ALWAYS; I’ve had my own PC since I was about 12). Recently, my brother made some changes to my PC (Leen’s Dream Machine) because he felt it was a good time to upgrade some parts while my old parts were still valuable. Well, those “some parts” quickly became “all parts” because our nerdy selves got a little carried away.

So if you notice my PC looks a bit different from my previous post (and only other post at this time), it’s because it is. The only components that are not new in this “kinda-new” PC of mine is the Thermaltake View 71 case, my RAM, one of the SSDs, and my power supply unit (PSU). Otherwise the processor/CPU, motherboard, AIO water cooler, and fans are all new. And now, this new video card/GPU!

But because of COVID, he couldn't come over to install the AORUS Xtreme Geforce RTX 2080 Ti he gifted me for my birthday. So I bravely did it myself without looking online for help! I've seen him build PCs from scratch quite a few times, so I did have a bit of an idea of where things go.

After installing the new GPU, the first thing I want to do is take it for a spin in Adobe Premiere. Editing 4k footage from my EOS R had proven to be difficult even on my Dream Machine (though a workaround of dropping playback resolution to 1/2 or less helped a lot), so what I’m looking forward to most is a smoother video editing workflow!
