Pecan Praline Latte w/Cold Foam
Rumor has it that Starbucks will have a new Pecan flavor on their fall menu this year. So I decided to share how I make my pecan syrup at home! It is incredibly tasty, nutty, and rich. I love being able to control how much sweetness and flavor goes into my lattes, so making it at home is awesome!
INGREDIENTS for syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pecans
2g salt (1/2 tsp Maldon flakes OR 1/4 tsp table salt)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
optional: cinnamon stick, cloves, or nutmeg
RECIPE
Add the brown sugar and water to a small saucepan and place over medium heat.
When the sugar has completely dissolved, drop the heat to low and add the chopped pecans.
Optional: If you want to add any spices such as cinnamon, clove, or nutmeg, now would be the time.
After 2-3 minutes, remove from heat and strain this syrup into a heatproof container.
Add the vanilla extract and salt. Add a bit extra salt to taste if you want more of a salted pecan flavor!
Once it has cooled, you can transfer the syrup to an airtight container and store it in the fridge for a month or two. Alternatively, you can double the amount of sugar in this recipe to create a thicker syrup which should hold up for longer and won’t require refrigeration.
